Feeling stuck — but not sure why? Let's start there.

About Jason Reynolds, PsyD — Psychologist in Barrington, Illinois

Education & Training

I hold a doctorate in Clinical Psychology (PsyD) and a master's in Counseling Psychology (MA) from Adler University, Chicago. I've completed advanced training in psychoanalytic psychotherapy through the San Francisco Center for Psychoanalysis — one of the country's leading institutes for depth-oriented clinical training.

I came to this work because I was drawn to the questions that don't have quick answers — why we repeat what we know isn't working, why understanding something so rarely changes it.

That curiosity shapes everything about how I practice.

Clinical Approach

This is open-ended, reflective work. There's no fixed agenda, no curriculum to move through.

What we pay attention to is whatever feels most alive — what's happening in your relationships, what keeps recurring, what's difficult to say out loud. Over time, that attention becomes its own kind of change.

Who This Work Is Often Helpful For

This approach tends to resonate with people who:

  • Notice recurring patterns in relationships

  • Have tried shorter-term or solution-focused therapy but want something deeper

  • Feel that insight alone hasn't been enough to shift what's stuck

  • Function well in the world but carry something privately that doesn't match that picture

Getting Started

I work with adults from a range of backgrounds, identities, and life experiences, and I try to create a space where you feel genuinely seen.

If you're curious whether this kind of work might be helpful, I'd welcome a conversation. I offer a free 15-minute consultation — low-pressure, no commitment — to discuss what's bringing you to therapy and whether working together feels like a good fit.
