Interpersonal Process Group
Exploring Relationships as They Happen
Group therapy offers a unique opportunity to understand yourself through relationships—with others and within yourself—as those experiences unfold in real time. An interpersonal process group focuses less on advice or predetermined topics and more on what emerges naturally between members: moments of connection, distance, misunderstanding, curiosity, and care.
This group is grounded in psychodynamic and psychoanalytic psychotherapy and is designed for adults who want to explore relational patterns in a reflective, supportive setting.
What Is an Interpersonal Process Group?
An interpersonal process group is a form of therapy that emphasizes here-and-now emotional experience within the group itself.
Rather than working from a set agenda, the group attends to:
How you experience others
How others experience you
Patterns of closeness, avoidance, conflict, or protection
Emotional responses as they arise in the room
With clinical guidance, these moments become opportunities for insight, understanding, and change. Over time, participants often begin to recognize familiar relational patterns and experiment with new ways of relating.
How Group Therapy Can Help
Group therapy can be especially helpful if you:
Notice recurring challenges in relationships
Feel unseen, misunderstood, or disconnected from others
Struggle with closeness, conflict, or emotional expression
Want to better understand how your past shapes present relationships
Are curious about how others experience you
For many people, group therapy complements individual therapy by making relational dynamics more visible and immediate.
About the Group Format
This is an open, weekly interpersonal process group, meaning new members may join as space becomes available. While membership can change over time, the group maintains consistent structure, leadership, and therapeutic focus.
The group emphasizes:
Emotional honesty within a respectful therapeutic frame
Curiosity rather than judgment
Attention to both individual experience and group dynamics
Participants are encouraged to speak openly, reflect on their internal experiences, and engage thoughtfully with others.
Who This Group Is For
This group may be a good fit if you:
Have experience in individual therapy or feel ready for reflective group work
Are open to emotional exploration and feedback
Want to deepen your understanding of relational patterns
Can commit to regular weekly attendance
You do not need to be in crisis to benefit from group therapy. Many people join because they want to understand themselves more deeply or relate differently to others.
